Structure
Conference
IAPH meets in a full session once every two years
at its biennial conference in different port cities around the world. The plenary
sessions of IAPH conference is the supreme policy-making body of the Association.
It is more commonly known as IAPH World Ports Conference and often referred to
as the World Port Summit where the key players of the world port industry - port
CEOs, directors and managers - gather from all over the world once in every two
years to discuss issues of their immediate interest and concern for sharing better
practice.
In addition to household matters, each IAPH conference provides a forum where you can hear presentations on the latest issues and challenges facing the world port industry by carefully selected speakers and share comments and experiences with your port colleagues and experts. A trade exhibition is concurrently organized during the conference, showcasing the state-of-the-art products and services of the port and maritime technologies. There is no better place than IAPH conference to learn first-hand what is happening in the world port and maritime industries.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors meets every year to consider policy matters of the Association, responsible for general supervision over the Executive Committee, as well as exchange and share the latest information on the latest trends of the world port and maritime industries. The Board comprises the President as its ex officio Chairman, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Conference Vice Presidents, the Immediate Past President, and Directors or Alternate Directors elected nationally from member countries.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee (Exco) is the chief executive body
of the Association, responsible for directing the Association and supervising
the Secretary General. Exco comprises the President, as its ex officio Chairman,
four Vice-Presidents, the Immediate Past President, as ex officio members, and
18 members elected from among the Directors and Alternate Directors of IAPH.
Officers
Presidents and Vice Presidents are nominated by the Board of Directors and elected by the members at the plenary meeting of a biennial conference. Secretary General is appointed by the Board of Directors.
Internal Committees
IAPH as a membership organization addresses and tackles a range of issues of interest and concern to the entire membership through committees. All household matters are dealt with by the following four Internal Committees.

Technical Committees
Communication & Training Group includes the Communication & Community Relations Committee and the Human Resources Development Committee. Port Safety, Security & Environment Group includes the Port Safety & Security Committee, the Port Environment Committee, and the Legal Committee. Port Development, Operations & Facilitation Group includes the Trade Facilitation & Port Community System Committee, Terminal Management & Operations Committee, and the Port Planning & Development Committee. Technical committees are the backbone of the IAPH activity in monitoring, collecting, analyzing and disseminating information on the latest trends of port management and operations for the benefit of the entire membership. Their activity has produced various reports and guidelines to be shared by not only the membership but also those having an interest in a port. They are regarded as a valuable and practical reference to a host of issues related to port industry.
Legal Counselors
Legal Counselors are a council of legal advisers appointed by the Board of Directors, who give legal advice and assistance to the Association when so requested.
Liaison Officers
To enhance cooperation and coordination with other regional and international organizations concerned with maritime and port affairs, IAPH proactively represents the voice of the world port industry through its appointed Liaison Officers at international fora at UNECOSOC, IMO, UNCTAD, UNEP, WCO, ILO, from whom IAPH is granted Consultative Status as Non-Governmental Organization. They have been actively participating in various meetings and activities in an observer capacity.
